Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway was challenged to tell an entire story in only 6 words. He wrote:

For sale: baby shoes, never used.

Paintings tell stories too. Some are grand and ornate, others are simple and clear(Hemingway style). Most times, they tell the artist's story. But, they can also tell the viewer's story. What stories do you hear when you look at artwork?

Squidoo

I just discovered this and maybe it's nothing new to anyone out there, but I made my first Squidoo Lens about my art. A lens is a page of focused content, much like a blog post, but the content can be a lot more. It's a lot more relaxed than my website and focuses on a few paintings and some other art related content. Click the link below to check out my Squidoo Lens.

If you like what you see, leave me a comment. Better yet, create a lens and link to me, or create a lens about my artwork. You'll get my appreciation.

Julio Reyes wins ARC Competition

I wanted to share some exciting news. A fellow alumni from LCAD, Julio Reyes, won Best In Show at the 2009/2010 ARC Annual Salon Competition for his painting, 'Empire'.

"Empire" - Oil on Canvas 42" x 60"
Julio started at Laguna College of Art and Design in the Fall of 2000. I graduated that spring, so unfortunately never got to know him, but I have been following his career and he's been soaring. Julio has also been added to the incredible roster of artists at Arcadia Gallery in New York.
Congratulations, Julio! It's well deserved.

The Brigham Galleries Fine Art Auction House

I am very pleased to announce the launch of The Brigham Galleries Fine Art Auction House.

I am also pleased to announce that my painting "Muse" is included in their inaugural auction.

This first auction is a “beta” auction, to work out any kinks with the new program. Because of the lack of publicity on this first auction, it is a unique time for collectors to win some high quality work without a great deal of competition.

You will need to register to bid.

The Brigham Galleries, based on Nantucket Island, has earned the respect of patrons, artists, and art industry experts since opening in 2002. 2009 saw the closing of the physical gallery as we transformed into an online fine art auction house.
The Brigham Galleries is an online art auction connecting Buyers and Sellers worldwide. Our mantra? Quality Art. Priced Right. We don't think that geographic location should be a hindrance to accessing the perfect piece of art. We deal strictly with fine art, and collaborate with experts in the field, who comprise our panels of expert jurists for special competitions/auctions.
Our goal is to target the [wide] gap between eBay and the top auction houses such as Sotheby's and Christie's. Auctions will be held every two weeks and feature contemporary and antique original fine art of all genres up to $125,000. Art is original, the rotating jury represents some of the top names in the art field, sellers interact directly with buyers.

Happy bidding,
Kyle
